Testing Windows, Exam Times, Fees, and Eligibility
Q: When are the Comprehensive Examinations offered?
All Comprehensive Examinations are administered during designated 30-day testing windows through Pearson VUE Professional Testing Centers. Examinations may only be taken during the following testing periods:
- April 1 – 30
- August 1 – 31
- November 1 – 30
Candidates may schedule and complete their modules in any order they choose, subject to testing center hours and availability.
Q: Can I take an exam module outside of an official testing window?
No. Exam modules must be completed during one of the designated 30-day testing windows and cannot be taken outside of those dates.
Q: How long are the General Comprehensive Examination modules (MAI designation requirement)?
The General Comprehensive Examination consists of four modules:
- Module I: General Concepts – 3.5 hours (210 minutes)
- Module II: Cost Approach / Highest & Best Use (HBU) – 3.5 hours (210 minutes)
- Module III: Income Approach – 4 hours (240 minutes)
- Module IV: Sales Comparison Approach – 4 hours (240 minutes)
Q: How long is the Residential Comprehensive Examination (SRA designation requirement)?
The Residential Comprehensive Examination includes:
- Module I: Residential Appraisal Concepts – 4 hours (240 minutes)
Q: How long are the General Review Comprehensive Examination modules (AI-GRS designation requirement)?
The General Review Comprehensive Examination consists of:
- Module I: General Appraisal Concepts – 3.5 hours (210 minutes)
- Module II: General Review Theory – 3.5 hours (210 minutes)
Q: How long is the Residential Review Comprehensive Examination (AI-RRS designation requirement)?
The Residential Review Comprehensive Examination includes:
- Module I: Residential Review Theory – 3.5 hours (210 minutes)
Q: What is the cost to take a Comprehensive Examination module?
The examination fee is $150 per module.
Q: What are the eligibility requirements for taking a Comprehensive Examination?
To be eligible to sit for a Comprehensive Examination, candidates must have completed all required education requirements. Individuals who have not fulfilled these requirements will not be granted access to exam registration.
Q: Is there a deadline for completing required course examinations before registering?
Yes. Any required course examinations must be completed at least six (6) weeks before the start of your desired testing window. This allows sufficient time for grading and for candidates to be notified of their results before exam registration.
